It all began with an idea! 3SDVA was established in 2015 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, by a group of active duty service members who witnessed firsthand the challenges South Sudanese service members in the United States armed forces were facing during and after deployment. What began as grassroots efforts—connecting service members and families, providing direct support, and hosting local events—quickly grew into a nonprofit dedicated to comprehensive support for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.
Over the years, 3SDVA has expanded its programs beyond community events to include critical needs assistance, scholarships, career coaching, peer mentorship, and holistic wellness services. Guided by empathy and rooted in the military family perspective, 3SDVA has supported thousands of service members, veterans, and loved ones nationwide.
As the needs of the military community evolve, so does 3SDVA—continuing to adapt, innovate, and stand alongside families, inspiring all Americans to take action in support of those who serve.

At 3SDVA, we provide assistance through a holistic, culturally informed approach designed to meet the unique needs of veterans and active-duty service members, with a particular focus on those of South Sudanese heritage. We begin by understanding each individual’s circumstances, goals, and challenges, so that the support we provide is both meaningful and effective.
Our assistance includes access to practical resources such as career guidance, educational opportunities, financial literacy programs, and housing support. We also offer emotional and community-based support, connecting service members and veterans to mentorship programs, peer networks, and culturally familiar community spaces where they can share experiences and build lasting relationships.
By addressing both immediate needs and long-term goals, we help those we serve successfully navigate life during and after military service. Every step of the way, 3SDVA is committed to honoring heritage, strengthening community ties, and empowering veterans and active-duty service members to thrive.

3SDVA stands apart because we see veterans and active-duty service members not just for where they’ve been, but for who they can become. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every individual who has served—or is currently serving—deserves support that truly understands and reflects their journey, especially those who share the cultural heritage and lived experiences of South Sudan.
We recognize that both transitioning veterans and active-duty service members face unique challenges—whether it’s adapting to civilian life, preparing for separation, navigating new environments, or managing responsibilities far from home. For South Sudanese service members in particular, these experiences often intersect with cultural expectations, family obligations, and the realities of building a life between two worlds.
That’s why 3SDVA provides culturally informed, personalized guidance that honors identity, respects sacrifice, and amplifies the strengths of our community. We offer practical resources, mentorship, and a supportive space where both veterans and active-duty service members can feel seen, understood, and empowered by people who share their cultural background.
What makes us different is our commitment to the whole person—not just their immediate needs, but their long-term aspirations. Whether someone is preparing for transition, actively serving, or building their next chapter after service, we walk beside them every step of the way.
At 3SDVA, we honor service through action, integrity, cultural pride, and unwavering advocacy for those who have given so much—past, present, and future.
